Choreographic Proposals for the MIRADOR Series
Mirador is a programme by Obrador de Moviments that invites audiences to engage with artistic creation through closeness and shared experience.
We understand dance not only as what happens on stage, but also as a living process of research, questions and transformation. Mirador creates a format that brings artists and audiences together, offering an intimate space to share practices, creative processes and performances through direct experience.
We are not simply looking for performances to present. We are looking for artists who are willing to open a window into their creative process and create a meaningful encounter with the audience.
This open call is addressed to artists and collectives, both emerging and established, whose practice is centred on the body and movement, and who wish to share their artistic research in an open, participatory and genuine way.
HOW DOES MIRADOR WORK?
Each edition of Mirador takes place over the course of a single day and consists of three complementary moments.
· PARTICIPATORY WORKSHOP:
The day begins with a one-hour workshop open to participants of all backgrounds and experience levels.
The workshop invites participants to explore, through their own bodies, some of the materials, questions or practices that have shaped the work. Rather than explaining the piece, it offers an embodied experience that transforms the way the audience later encounters it.
We believe that when audiences experience before they observe, the work gains greater depth and creates a stronger connection.
· PERFORMANCE:
The workshop is followed by the presentation of a choreographic work lasting between 20 and 60 minutes.
The work may be either a finished piece or a work in progress. Mirador is also conceived as a space for sharing creative processes, recognising that artistic works exist in different stages of development.
The intimate format of the programme encourages a close relationship between artists and audiences, creating a shared experience that extends beyond performance itself.
· ARTIST TALK:
The day concludes with an open conversation between the artists and the audience.
A space to exchange impressions, questions and reflections, where dialogue becomes an integral part of the artistic experience.
WHO CAN APPLY?
The open call is addressed to artists, companies and collectives working in the field of movement arts, both emerging and established.
We are looking for original proposals that place the body at the centre of their artistic research and that are interested in sharing their creative process with audiences.
Both finished works and works in progress are welcome.

Applications should include:
· A synopsis of the proposal
· A description of the participatory workshop (open to all audiences; duration: 1 hour)
· Technical requirements (minimum and ideal)
· Duration of the performance (between 20 minutes and 1 hour)
· Artistic CV of the choreographer(s) and/or performers
· Video and photographs (rehearsal footage or full performance, if available)
· Contact information (name(s), email address and telephone number)
TIMELINE
· Application deadline: September 4, 2026.
· Selection results: Late September 2026.
· Workshops and performances: During the 2026/27 season, Mirador will present four selected projects, one in each edition of the programme.
WHAT DOES OBRADOR DE MOVIMENTS OFFER?
Four proposals will be selected to take part in the Mirador programme during the 2026/27 season.
Selected artists will receive:
· 32 hours of rehearsal time in the performance space
· Basic technical support. Promotion through Obrador de Moviments’ communication channels
· Curatorial support in preparing the Mirador event
· 100% of the revenue generated through the reverse box office (“pay what you can”) during the presentation.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Priority will be given to proposals that:
· place the body and movement at the centre of their artistic practice
· engage meaningfully with Mirador’s participatory format
· foster a close relationship between artists and audiences
· understand the workshop as an extension of the creative process
· contribute to expanding perspectives on dance and movement-based practices
· adapt to the technical and spatial characteristics of the programme.
